The Early Detection & Screening priority area focuses on increasing access to timely cancer screening and improving early diagnosis through coordinated, system-level strategies across Idaho.

Plan Goals

  • Decrease prostate cancer mortality and support informed screening decisions

  • Reduce late-stage breast cancer incidence through screening

  • Reduce cervical cancer incidence and mortality

  • Reduce late-stage colorectal cancer through screening and early detection

  • Reduce late-stage lung cancer through targeted screening

These goals are supported through coordinated strategies that focus on systems-level change and partner alignment across the state.

  • Strengthen systems for timely follow-up after abnormal screening results

  • Promote alignment with current screening guidelines across providers and systems

  • Reduce structural and geographic barriers to screening
